Don't Judge, Don't Label

Don't Judge, Don't Label

We are all defined by labels. Some we accept. Some we don't.

Labels can create misunderstanding, stereotyping, and fear.  At ATM, we work to erase labels, revealing the rounded individuals behind them, bringing out our common humanity.

What is Don't Judge, Don't Label?

Hate crime doesn't just happen in isolation - the first stage of the process begins with prejudice. The roots of prejudice can stem from vulnerability, ignorance, upbringing, and a lack of social interaction with people of a different colour, ethnicity, or faith.

Then comes discrimination: treating someone unfairly because they are different (‘the other’). The next step in the scale is an act of hate, which can range from verbal to physical attacks.

Don't Judge, Don't Label targets the first stage, prejudice, aiming to halt the progression of discrimination and hate crime. It also counteracts how prejudice and hate are spread. Hate groups, as well as some sections of the media, perpetuate negative stereotypes and prejudice by spreading misinformation and creating a drip feed of subtle negativity, which lays the foundations of hate and fear towards particular communities.

Don't Judge, Don't Label helps inoculate minds by preventing this negativity from embedding itself into young people’s subconscious.

Don't Judge, Don't Label school workshops enable us to disrupt these messages of hate, and kick-start conversations that sees people as individuals rather than stereotypes or labels.

Don't Judge, Don't Label workshops also support young people to resist and stand up to this negative labelling, giving them toolkits to raise their voices against all forms of prejudice.

How does Don't Judge, Don't Label work?

Don't Judge, Don't Label organises workshops for school pupils across London to help young people develop critical thinking skills, enabling them to challenge hateful views confidently.

The interactive nature of our online campaign enables people to share our messages and build their own initiatives to tackle hate.
